Fanvue vs OnlyFans: AI rules, fees and payouts
Fanvue and OnlyFans are subscription platforms that keep the same 20% of what fans pay. Both host adult content, so both are restricted to people aged 18 or over and check a creator's identity before the account can earn. They part ways on AI. Fanvue treats AI creators as a recognised category and puts an AI tag on the profile. OnlyFans allows AI content only when it clearly features the verified creator. The short answer
For a persona that is fully AI-generated, Fanvue is the only one of the two whose published rules accept the account. Its help centre says "AI creators are a fully recognised and verified category on Fanvue", while OnlyFans tells creators they cannot share content that "features a creator whose identity we cannot verify, including accounts or content that are wholly AI-generated". If you appear in your own content, the rules allow you on either and the fee is the same 20%, so payout mechanics and discovery decide it.
Choose Fanvue if
- Your persona is AI-generated with no real person in it. Fanvue allows that with a clear disclosure and an AI tag in the bio.
- You run several personas. One verified identity can hold up to 15 AI creator accounts; OnlyFans links a maximum of three.
- You want fans to find you on the platform. Fanvue has a Discover feed and search by name; OnlyFans search needs your username.
- You want help writing messages. Fanvue has an AI rewrite button and AI-drafted automated messages; OnlyFans offers no AI chat tool.
Choose OnlyFans if
- You are the person in your content and AI only alters or enhances it. OnlyFans allows that when the content "clearly features the verified Creator" and is labelled, for example with #ai.
- You want payouts on a schedule. OnlyFans can pay automatically monthly, weekly or, where available, daily.
- A run of disputes worries you. Fanvue may charge $50 per dispute once an account passes a 1.5% dispute rate in 30 days; OnlyFans lists no such fee.

Does OnlyFans allow AI-generated content?
Only when it features the verified creator and is labelled. OnlyFans says AI-generated, altered or enhanced content may be shared if "it clearly features the verified Creator" and "the user can tell" it involves AI, most simply with the hashtag #ai. Its creator guide lists "accounts or content that are wholly AI-generated" among content that cannot be shared, so a synthetic persona with no real creator in the image does not meet the rule. 282926
Does Fanvue allow AI creators?
Yes. Fanvue calls AI creators "a fully recognised and verified category" and tags each one in the profile bio. Its Community Guidelines set the conditions: a clear and prominent disclosure on all AI-generated media, no impersonation of "real individuals other than the account owner", no AI-generated individual who resembles a minor, and review by its moderation team. Do I have to show my real identity to run an AI persona?
To the platform, yes. Fanvue asks the account owner for a government-issued ID or passport and a matching selfie "even if you are not using your face in the content", and says the information is not shown on the profile. The persona can be fictional; the person behind it cannot be anonymous to Fanvue. On OnlyFans the verified creator must also be the person the content features. 1142831
Which takes the bigger cut, Fanvue or OnlyFans?
Neither. Both keep 20% and pay the creator 80%. The differences are at the edges: Fanvue charges 1% on payouts through one provider, TripleA, and may add $50 per dispute once an account passes a 1.5% dispute rate, while OnlyFans lists neither. Fanvue may also run a temporary promotional rate for new or eligible creators; its 85% rate for creators who joined in 2022 has ended. 5351820
How long do Fanvue and OnlyFans take to pay out?
On both, earnings wait 7 days before they can be withdrawn, and a requested payout is sent within 3 to 5 business days. The exceptions differ: Fanvue's policy allows a pending period of up to 28 days set by its risk systems, and OnlyFans holds earnings 21 days for creators in a small number of countries. Can I use an AI chatbot to reply to fans?
Not one of your own, on either platform. OnlyFans says it "does not offer an internal AI chatbot tool for Creators", has no public API, and that creators may not integrate AI chat bots. Fanvue has no API keys for general use and bans bots and unapproved scripts, but it builds in AI Messaging, which rewrites a draft, and automated messages that can be generated with AI.
