The best free AI talking avatar generator depends on the face you need. HeyGen Free is the best documented option for your own persona: three videos a month of up to one minute with a photo avatar. Synthesia Basic gives the most minutes, 10 a month, but only with stock presenters, a watermark and link sharing. Every hosted free tier needs an account; only local open models are unlimited and unmarked.
The best free AI talking avatar generator in October 2026 is HeyGen's free plan if the video has to show your own persona, and Synthesia's Basic plan if you only need the most free minutes. HeyGen lists three videos a month of up to one minute with a photo avatar you create; Synthesia lists 10 minutes a month, but with stock presenters, a watermark and no file download.
Limits checked October 2026 against HeyGen's pricing and plan guide, Synthesia's pricing, Hedra's pricing and image-to-video guide, Google's Flow credits page and Vids availability page, D-ID's FAQ, Vidnoz's pricing and the InfiniteTalk and SadTalker repositories.
A note on method, because "best free" lists rarely give one. This is a documentation-based comparison. We did not render a video on each tool and score the faces. We read what each vendor publishes about its free tier and held it against one yardstick: a 60-second script, about 140 spoken words, which is the length of a typical talking Reel. Where a page did not state a limit, the table says so instead of guessing. For how avatar types differ and what paid minutes cost, start with our complete guide to AI talking avatars; for scene tools, the AI influencer video generators ranking.

Free AI talking avatar video generator limits, side by side
Five things decide whether a free tier is usable: how much you get, whether it takes your own face, the watermark, what you need to sign up and export, and what the terms say about commercial use.
| Free tier | Allowance | Your own face? | Watermark | Login and export | Commercial use |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HeyGen Free | 3 videos a month (help center: 1 to 3 by region), up to 1 minute each | Yes: up to 3 photo avatars | Removal is a paid feature | Account; 720p share links per the help center | Not stated |
| Synthesia Basic | 10 minutes a month plus 500 credits | No: 9 stock avatars, no personal avatars | Synthesia watermark | Account; share link only, no MP4 download | Not stated |
| Hedra Free | Free plan with no credit card; credit amount not in the page text we could read | Yes: a photo or a generated character | Watermarked | Account | Non-commercial only |
| Google Flow | 50 credits a day; a 10 s Gemini Omni Flash clip is 15 credits at 720p | Yes: reference images as ingredients | Invisible SynthID always; visible mark is a setting in most countries | Google account, 18 or older | Not stated |
| Google Vids (personal account) | 6 AI avatar generations a month, shared with AI video clips | No: preset avatars only | Not stated | Google account | Not stated |
| D-ID trial | Trial allowance not on the pages we could read; videos capped at 5 minutes | Yes: upload a face image up to 10 MB | Full-screen watermark on trial | Account | Not stated |
| Vidnoz Free | Daily credits (the number only shows in the live page); 3 minutes per video, 720p | Photo avatars listed; daily count not readable | Starter is the first plan listed with no watermark | Account | Not stated |
| Local open models | Unlimited on your own GPU | Yes: any image | None | None | Apache 2.0 for InfiniteTalk and SadTalker |
"Not stated" means the vendor pages we read in October 2026 did not say. It does not mean yes. HeyGen's own pages disagree on free export resolution: the pricing page shows 1080p and the help center says 720p sharing links.
The 60-second script, on paper
One minute of talking is the unit most creators need: long enough for a tip or a product point, short enough for Reels, TikTok and Shorts. Here is whether each free tier can deliver it, going only by published limits.
| Free tier | Fits 60 seconds? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| HeyGen Free | Yes, in one video | The cap is exactly 1 minute per video, three times a month |
| Synthesia Basic | Yes, ten times a month | Stock presenter, watermark, and you share a link instead of a file |
| Google Flow | Only as six clips | 90 credits at 720p (two days of free credits) or 42 at 360p (one day) |
| Vidnoz Free | Depends on the daily credits shown in your account | 60 s costs 30 credits as a standard video or 120 as an expressive avatar |
| Hedra Free | Not confirmed | Character-3 supports long clips, but the free credit amount is not published in text |
| D-ID trial | Not confirmed | Length cap is 5 minutes; trial allowance not confirmed; full-screen watermark |
| Google Vids | Not confirmed | Six generations a month; clip length is not stated on the availability page |
| Local open models | Yes | InfiniteTalk says a single image holds for about a minute before colours shift |
Source: Google Flow credits page, Synthesia pricing, HeyGen pricing; checked October 2026. Flow figure is 3 clips a day for 30 days; unused credits do not roll over.
The Flow number needs its caveat. Fifty credits buy three 10-second clips at 15 credits each, and the five left over expire that night. Fifteen minutes a month is real, but it arrives as ninety separate clips that you have to cut together, and Google says non-subscribers may be unable to generate video at peak hours, roughly 2 PM to 5 PM UTC.
Each free tier, with its catch
HeyGen Free: the one that takes your persona
HeyGen's pricing page lists the free plan at three videos a month of up to one minute, with up to three photo avatars, one custom video avatar and one voice clone. Its help center puts the quota at one to three free videos depending on your region, so check your own account. A photo avatar is built from one image you upload or design in the tool, which makes this the free tier a fictional persona can actually use.
The catch: watermark removal is listed from the Creator plan up, so plan on free videos carrying HeyGen branding, and three minutes a month is a test budget, not a posting schedule.
Synthesia Basic: the most minutes, the least freedom
Synthesia's pricing page gives every plan, including free Basic, 10 video minutes and 500 credits a month. Basic comes with nine stock avatars and no personal avatars; its videos carry a Synthesia watermark and are shared by link, with MP4 downloads kept for paid plans.
The catch for creators is the link. A video you cannot download cannot be posted natively to Instagram or TikTok, so Basic works for a demo or an internal explainer and not for a feed.
Hedra Free: your character, watermarked
Hedra animates a single portrait from a script or an audio file, and its talking avatar page says the image can be a photo of a presenter or a generated character. The pricing page advertises a free plan with no credit card. Hedra's own guide states that free-account outputs are watermarked and for non-commercial use, and that paid plans include commercial rights.
The catch: we could not read a free credit amount in the text of the pricing page, so we cannot tell you how many seconds the free plan covers. Check the number in the app before you plan around it.
Google Flow: daily credits, ten seconds at a time
Flow is a scene tool rather than an avatar tool, but Gemini Omni Flash generates talking clips with sound, accepts reference images of your character and costs 15 credits for 10 seconds at 720p, or 7 at 360p. Everyone gets 50 credits a day (Flow credits page). Outputs carry an invisible SynthID watermark; the visible one is a setting, applied automatically in India, South Korea and Vietnam, according to Flow's help.
The catch: no clip runs longer than 10 seconds, so a monologue becomes an editing job. It suits a persona who talks in short beats between scenes. Our free AI video generators comparison covers the rest of Flow's free plan.
Google Vids: preset presenters on a personal account
Google's availability page gives a personal Google account six AI avatar generations a month, a limit shared with AI video clips, and says personal accounts only have access to preset avatars. That is fine for a slide-style explainer and no use for a persona, because you cannot bring your own face.
D-ID trial: a watermark across the frame
D-ID lets you upload a face image of up to 10 MB and caps videos at five minutes. Its FAQ says a full-screen watermark appears for trial users, a D-ID logo stays on the Lite plan, and Pro and Advanced videos carry a generic AI watermark. The trial is a way to judge the motion, not a way to make something you can post.
Vidnoz Free: generous on paper, check the live number
Vidnoz's pricing page lists a free plan with a three-minute cap per video and 720p export, and prices video in credits: 0.5 a second for a standard avatar video and 2 a second for an expressive avatar. The daily free credit number is filled in by the page when it loads and was not readable in the text we checked, so the table leaves it open. "No watermark" first appears in the Starter plan's feature list.
Local open models: unlimited, if you have the hardware
Two open models cover the free, no-account route. InfiniteTalk drives a single image or an existing video from an audio file and is released under Apache 2.0; its repository says a single image gives good results for up to a minute before colour shifts become noticeable. SadTalker is older and lighter, turns one portrait and an audio clip into a talking head, and moved to Apache 2.0 with its non-commercial restriction removed.
The catch is the machine. InfiniteTalk is built on a 14B video model and its repository offers a quantised version for lower memory; the related Wan2.2-S2V model card asks for a GPU with at least 80 GB of VRAM for single-GPU inference. Our guide to making AI influencer videos for free covers the local and rented-GPU options.
Talking avatar AI free without login: does it exist?
Not in any hosted tool we could document. Every service above asks for an account before it generates or exports. That makes sense for a product that handles faces and voices: an account is where consent checks and misuse rules get applied.
How to spend a free allowance well
- 1Write the script first
About 140 words for 60 seconds. Read it aloud once and cut anything you stumble on.
- 2Prepare one source image
Front-facing, mouth visible, face filling the frame. The same still you use everywhere else.
- 3Generate the voice outside the quota
Make the audio in your voice tool and upload it, so a bad read does not burn a video.
- 4Spend the first video on a hard line
Pick the sentence with the most plosives and a smile. If the mouth holds there, it holds anywhere.
- 5Judge it on a phone
Full screen, sound on, at arm's length. That is where viewers will see it.
- 6Decide before the quota resets
Either the face works and you price a paid plan, or it does not and you try the next free tier.
The point of a free tier is a decision, not a content calendar. One careful test tells you whether your persona survives being animated, which is the only question a free plan can answer.
When free stops being enough
Three signals: you need the file without a watermark, a brand is paying for the video, or you are posting more than a few times a month. At that point the useful number is cost per finished minute, which runs from about $0.19 to $3.75 on October 2026 list prices depending on the avatar model; the working is in our AI talking avatar guide.
A talking avatar is also only as consistent as the image behind it. If your persona's face still changes between stills, fix that first with the grid-sheet method, then come back to the avatar. The AI Influencers program covers the persona, voice and video pipeline these tools plug into.
- Allowance: videos, minutes or credits, and when it resets
- Length cap per video, separate from the monthly allowance
- Whether you can bring your own face or only use stock presenters
- Watermark: visible, invisible, or removable only on a paid plan
- Export: a file you can post, or only a share link
- Commercial terms for free output, in the terms page rather than the sales page
- What happens to your uploaded face and voice if you leave
Free talking avatar generators: FAQ
What is the best free AI talking avatar generator?
For your own persona's face, HeyGen's free plan is the best documented option: its pricing page lists three videos a month of up to one minute and up to three photo avatars. For the most free minutes, Synthesia's Basic plan includes 10 minutes a month, but with stock presenters, a watermark and link-only sharing. This is a comparison of published limits, checked October 2026, not a scored test.
Is there a free talking avatar generator without a watermark?
Not among the dedicated avatar tools we checked. HeyGen lists watermark removal as a paid feature, Synthesia's free videos carry its watermark, Hedra's free outputs are watermarked, and D-ID puts a full-screen watermark on trial videos. Google Flow adds an invisible SynthID mark and makes the visible one a setting in most countries. Open models you run locally add no watermark at all.
Can I use a talking avatar AI free without login?
None of the hosted tools on this page documents a no-login mode; each one asks for an account before you can generate or export. The only route with no account is an open-source model on your own computer, such as InfiniteTalk or SadTalker, which need a capable GPU and some setup. Be wary of sites that promise unlimited avatars with no sign-up.
Can I make a 60-second talking avatar video for free?
Yes. HeyGen's free plan caps each video at exactly one minute, so a script of about 140 words fits in a single video. Synthesia's Basic plan covers it ten times a month with a stock presenter. Google Flow cannot do it in one clip, because Gemini Omni Flash stops at 10 seconds, but six clips cost 90 credits at 720p. Checked October 2026.
Can I use free talking avatar videos commercially?
Assume not until the terms say otherwise. Hedra states that free-account outputs are for non-commercial use and that commercial rights come with paid plans. The other pricing pages we read do not spell out commercial terms for their free tiers, and watermarks rule out most client work anyway. For sponsored posts or client ads, move to a paid plan first.
Which free talking avatar generator lets me use my own character?
HeyGen (up to three photo avatars on the free plan), Hedra (a photo of a presenter or a generated character), D-ID (an uploaded face image) and Google Flow (reference images called ingredients) all accept your own image. Synthesia's free Basic plan and Google Vids on a personal account are limited to stock or preset presenters. Local open models animate whatever image you supply.
Is there an unlimited free AI talking avatar generator?
Not a hosted one. Every free tier here is capped by videos, minutes or credits, and the caps reset monthly or daily without rolling over. The only unlimited route is local: open models such as InfiniteTalk and SadTalker are released under Apache 2.0 and cost nothing per video once they run on your own GPU. You pay in hardware and setup time instead.
A free tier tests the face. A system keeps it posting.
Once the avatar works, the work is everything around it: a consistent persona, a voice, scripts and a weekly schedule. AI Influencers, included in All Access, covers that pipeline, with the other three programs, live coaching and the private community in one subscription.
