How the math works

Fees      = $0.20 listing
          + 6.5% transaction
          + 3% + $0.25 processing
          + Offsite share x min(15% or 12%, $100)
          + refund % x (price - Etsy % fees)
Net       = price - fees
Profit = net x sales - Etsy Ads - tools
For goal = (goal + Etsy Ads + tools) / net
Break-even ROAS = price / net

Rates checked October 2026 against Etsy's Fees & Payments Policy and Etsy Payments Policy, using the US payment processing rate.

On a refund you issue, Etsy credits its percentage fees back in proportion, so the calculator counts the refunded price minus those fees as lost and the listing fee and $0.25 as spent. Refunds Etsy covers through its Purchase Protection program work differently. Not included: sales tax and VAT (Etsy collects these), currency conversion, the regulatory operating fee in some countries, refunds and income tax. This is a planning model, not an income forecast.

FAQ

Which Etsy fees does this include?

Every fee Etsy charges on a digital download sale in the US: the $0.20 listing fee (Etsy renews the listing, and charges it again, each time an item sells), the 6.5% transaction fee, Etsy Payments processing of 3% + $0.25, and the Offsite Ads fee on the share of sales that came from an Offsite Ad. Rates were checked in October 2026 and match the Digital Product Fee Calculator.

How does the Offsite Ads fee work?

When a buyer clicks an Etsy ad on another site and buys within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of the order (12% if your shop made $10,000 or more in the last 12 months), capped at $100 per order. Shops under $10,000 can opt out; shops over it cannot. Enter the share of your sales that came through Offsite Ads; your Etsy shop stats show it.

What is break-even ROAS?

ROAS is revenue from ads divided by ad spend. Break-even ROAS is the point where an ad-driven sale earns back exactly what the ads cost after Etsy fees: price divided by your net per sale. Below it, Etsy Ads lose money on each sale they bring in. Compare it with the ROAS in your Etsy Ads dashboard.

Why is there no cost of goods?

This calculator is built for digital downloads: printables, templates, presets, planners. They have no per-unit production or shipping cost. Put your monthly tool subscriptions (Canva, mockup sites, design software) in fixed costs instead.

Are taxes included?

No. Etsy collects and remits sales tax and VAT in most places, and that money is not your revenue. Income tax on your profit depends on where you live and is left out on purpose.

Does it work outside the US?

The payment processing default is the US rate. Etsy charges different processing rates by country, and some sellers pay a regulatory operating fee or currency conversion fee. Edit the price for your market and treat the result as an estimate if you sell from outside the US.
