Instagram support has no public phone number and no general support email: you contact it through the Help Center, the in-app tools (Report a problem, Account Status, the Meta AI support assistant) and a form for each specific problem. Meta Verified subscribers are the only users with a documented route to a human agent, by chat or email. Pick the channel that matches your problem, because the wrong one usually gets no reply.
Instagram support has no phone number and no general email address: you contact Instagram through its Help Center, the tools inside the app and a dedicated form for each kind of problem. The only documented way to chat with a person is Meta Verified support, which paying subscribers reach by chat in the mobile app or by email.
Checked October 2026 against Instagram's Help Center pages on points of support and contact, phone support availability, Meta Verified support, hacked profiles, disabled accounts, reporting a technical problem, impersonation, copyright and payouts, plus Meta's support update (December 2025, updated March 2026).
That sounds like a dead end, but it is closer to a switchboard. Each problem has one channel that a team actually reads, and most frustration comes from sending a hacked-account story to a copyright form or calling a number found on a search result. This page maps problem to channel. For restrictions, bans and recovery in more depth, our Instagram account help hub links every guide we keep.
Instagram support by problem: which channel reaches someone
Find your problem in the left column. The middle column is the route Instagram documents; the right is what you get back.
| Your problem | Channel | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Hacked or taken over | instagram.com/hacked, then the login link or a support request from a phone | An email with next steps, often a video selfie check |
| Forgot password, not hacked | Forgot password? on the login screen | A login link by email or text, usually within minutes |
| Account disabled or suspended | Log in and follow the on-screen review | A decision on the notice or by email; no published time |
| Post removed or account restricted | Account Status or Support Inbox, then request a review | A review of that decision |
| Someone impersonating you | Report the profile in the app; no account: the impersonation form | ID required; only you or your authorised representative can report |
| Copyright or trademark | The Meta Intellectual Property Reporting Form or the Trademark Report Form | Rights owners only; your report details may be shared with the poster |
| A bug or broken feature | Report a problem in the app (profile menu, Help) | A technical report, with logs if you choose |
| Badges, gifts, subscriptions, bonuses payouts | Professional dashboard, Tools, Payouts, and the payout help pages | Self-serve: requirements, payout account and name checks |
| Ads or a business account | Meta Business Support Home | Business support, separate from Instagram account help |
| Meta Verified subscriber | Meta Verified support: chat in the mobile app, or email | An agent; a case closes after 7 days without your reply |
| You live in the European Union | The routing form linked from the phone-support article | An automated email, sometimes with a reporting number |

Instagram customer service phone number: there isn't one
Instagram's Help Center says Meta does not have a general public phone number for customer service. It adds that phone numbers claiming to be for Meta customer support are potentially scams and should be avoided. Meta says it may offer specialised phone support in certain places or for certain products, but no number exists for ordinary Instagram account problems.
Instagram support email: what exists and what does not
There is no general Instagram support email. Instagram's contact pages list none, and old addresses passed around forums are not on any Help Center page we checked. What Instagram does publish is narrow:
- phish@instagram.com to report a phishing email pretending to be Instagram.
- ip@instagram.com to withdraw an intellectual property report you filed, quoting its report number.
- Outgoing mail from addresses such as @mail.instagram.com and @support.instagram.com. You can confirm a message is genuine under Accounts Center, Password and security, Recent emails.
- A postal address for Meta Platforms Ireland Limited in Dublin, listed on the points of support page. It is a mailing address, not an account help desk.
The one place email works as support is after you start a request: a recovery request, an EU form or a Meta Verified case all send an email you can reply to, and replying in that thread keeps the same team on it.
How to talk to a real person at Instagram
Meta Verified is the only documented route to a human agent on demand. Subscribers get email support and chat support, and chat works only in the Instagram and Facebook mobile apps, not on a computer. Meta lists account access and security issues, billing and verification among the things it helps with.
- 1Log in to the verified account
Cases show only on the account that holds the subscription.
- 2Open Meta Verified support in the mobile app
Chat is mobile only. Email support is the alternative.
- 3Describe the issue once, with screenshots
Meta asks for as much detail as possible. Include usernames, dates and the exact error text.
- 4Answer within seven days
A case closes automatically if you do not respond to the agent within seven days.
- 5Keep the subscription active until it is solved
Cancelling closes open cases after that billing cycle, and closed cases cannot be reopened.
Without a subscription, people still review your case, just not on call. A review you request on a disabled account or a removed post, an identity check in a hacked-account recovery and an impersonation or copyright report all end with a decision, usually by email or in Support Inbox. If you are weighing the subscription, our guide to getting verified on Instagram covers eligibility, and Meta One vs Meta Verified compares the newer Meta One plans with it.
Contact Instagram from inside the app
Three in-app tools cover most problems that are not about getting in. They are faster than any form, because the app already knows which account you are on.
- Meta AI support assistant. Available in the app and the Help Center since March 2026 where Meta AI is offered. Meta says it can take action on some requests, such as resetting a password, updating profile settings or reporting scams and impersonation accounts. Login help started with select cases in the US and Canada.
- Account Status and Support Inbox. Where you see removed posts and restrictions and request a review. If your reach dropped or features are limited, start with what to do when your account is restricted.
- Report a problem. For bugs: open your profile, the menu, then Help and Report a problem. You can go back to the screen where the bug happened and shake your phone to report it, and choose whether to include logs and diagnostics.
Meta also added a support hub to the Instagram and Facebook apps in December 2025, which gathers these tools in one place and lets you report an account issue directly.
What to have ready before you contact Instagram
Every channel above moves faster when the reviewer can check your claim in one pass. Gather this first, in one note you can copy from.
- The exact username, plus the email and phone number on the account
- An email inbox only you can open, with its own two-factor on: answers arrive there
- Screenshots of the error, notice or post, with the date visible
- A photo ID from Instagram's accepted list, for impersonation reports and some recovery steps
- For copyright or trademark: proof you own the work or the registered mark, and links to each post
- For payouts: your payout account details and the name exactly as it appears on your tax ID
- A two-to-four sentence description you can paste into any form unchanged
- For Meta Verified: be logged in to the subscribed account on your phone
If a single account is your income, the cheapest support is avoiding the problem: two-factor authentication with saved backup codes prevents most of the lock-outs on this page, and our two-factor setup guide takes ten minutes. Growing without risky tools matters too. Our Instagram Ignited program covers profile setup, Reels and Insights, and why growth apps that ask for your password put accounts at risk.
Fake Instagram support: how to tell
Anyone posting "Instagram support please help" gets replies from fake agents within minutes. The tells are consistent.
- A phone number for "Instagram customer care"
- A DM from "Instagram Support" or a "Meta agent"
- A recovery specialist who charges a fee
- A link asking for your password or login code
- A deadline: "your account will be deleted today"
- A channel you opened from the app or help.instagram.com
- Forms on help.instagram.com
- Meta Verified chat inside the mobile app
- Email from @mail.instagram.com, shown in Recent emails
- Identity checks you started yourself
Instagram Help Center, checked October 2026.
Instagram's phishing guidance says it will never send you direct messages about your account in the app, and asks you to forward suspicious emails to phish@instagram.com. If you already handed over a login code, treat the account as hacked and start at instagram.com/hacked.
Instagram support: FAQ
Does Instagram have a customer service phone number?
No. Instagram's Help Center says Meta does not have a general public phone number for customer service, and that phone numbers claiming to be for Meta customer support are potentially scams and should be avoided. Meta says it may offer specialised phone support in certain jurisdictions or for certain products, but there is no number to call about an Instagram account. Checked October 2026.
What is the Instagram support email?
There is no general support email. Instagram's contact pages list none, and support runs through the Help Center, the app and its forms. The addresses Instagram does publish are narrow: phish@instagram.com to report phishing emails and ip@instagram.com to withdraw an intellectual property report. Genuine Instagram mail is sent from addresses such as @mail.instagram.com; it is not an inbox for questions.
How do I talk to a real person at Instagram?
The one documented route is Meta Verified: subscribers get chat with a support agent in the Instagram or Facebook mobile app, and email support. Without it, you reach people indirectly, through a review you request on a decision, an identity check during account recovery, or a form for impersonation or intellectual property. People in the European Union also have a routing form linked from Instagram's phone-support article.
How do I contact Instagram if my account was hacked?
Open instagram.com/hacked in a phone or computer browser and follow the steps. If your email or phone still works, tap Forgot password? on the login screen and use the login link. If that fails, request support from the app on a phone with an email only you can open, then complete the identity check, often a video selfie. Our hacked account guide covers each case.
How do I contact Instagram about a disabled account?
Log in to the disabled account. Instagram's Help Center says that if you think the account was disabled by mistake, you can ask for a review by logging in and following the on-screen instructions. Do not send the same appeal through every form you can find: two standalone forms exist, but each covers a narrow case. Our appeal form guide explains which one fits.
Can the Meta AI support assistant fix my account?
Sometimes. Meta says the assistant, in the app and the desktop Help Center, can take action on some requests, such as resetting passwords, updating profile settings and reporting scams or impersonation accounts. Its login help started with select cases in the US and Canada. It is a reasonable first stop for settings questions, and not a replacement for an appeal or an identity check.
Is Meta Verified worth it just for support?
Only if you need a person on call for an account you rely on. Meta Verified subscribers get chat and email support for account access, security, billing and verification questions. Cases close automatically after seven days without your reply and cannot be reopened, and cancelling closes open cases. It does not help an account you are already locked out of, so subscribe before you need it.
