The Instagram reels bonus is not available to most accounts because bonuses are invite-only, limited-time tests, and Instagram says selection includes an element of randomness. You can only be considered if you have a professional account, meet the Partner Monetization Policies and live in a country where bonuses are being tested. Keep the account eligible, watch Professional dashboard for an invite, and build income that does not depend on one.
The Instagram reels bonus is not available on most accounts because Instagram's bonuses are invite-only, limited-time tests rather than a feature you can switch on. Instagram says it offers bonus programs to selected creators in some countries, that selection includes an element of random choice, and that there is no public eligibility yet, so there is nothing to apply for.
Checked in October 2026 against Instagram's Bonuses page for creators, which says bonuses "are limited time and invite-only as we build toward a sustainable program", and the Help Center articles About bonuses on Instagram, Enable bonuses, bonus program general rules and payouts.
That answer frustrates people who remember 2021 and 2022, when Reels Play bonuses felt widely available. Instagram's own wording now is that it is testing bonuses, that it may end programs as it learns, and that it will announce when it is ready to offer public eligibility. This page covers what still shows in the app, how to tell a real invite from a fake one, and the account-health checklist that keeps you eligible in case an invite arrives. For every other way to earn from the same reels, see our guide to monetizing Instagram in 2026.
Instagram reels bonus not available: the two possible reasons
There are only two possible reasons, and only one is in your control. Either your account fails one of the published rules, or it meets them and simply has not been selected.
| Rule | What Instagram says | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Who can be invited | Professional (business or creator) account | Bonuses help article |
| Policy standing | Meet the Partner Monetization Policies | Settings, Monetization status |
| Location | Live in an eligible country where bonuses are being tested | Bonuses help article |
| Selection | Invite-only, limited time, with an element of random selection | Bonuses help article |
| Paid content | Meets Community Standards and Content Monetization Policies | General bonus rules |
| Paid content | Not branded content, stays public, not a collab | General bonus rules |
| Payouts | Payout account set up before the bonus period ends | Payouts article |
The selection row is the one most guides leave out. Instagram's About bonuses article says that "there is an element of random selection due to the nature of product testing." Two accounts with the same size, niche and country can get different outcomes. The articles we checked also do not publish a list of countries where bonuses are being tested, so any list you find on a third-party site is someone else's observation, not Instagram's rule.
It is no longer only a reels bonus
Part of the confusion is the name. People still search for the reels bonus, but Instagram's Bonuses page for creators now says bonuses "reward you for the performance of your reels and photos, including carousels and single image posts." Meta's November 2023 creator update described the same shift: an invite-only holiday bonus test in the United States, South Korea and Japan that paid on reels plays and photo views, as long as the content passed the Content Monetization Policies.
Two practical consequences follow. First, if you are invited, read the program rules for which formats count before you plan your posting; a bonus may pay on carousels you would otherwise not have made. Second, the tips Instagram attaches to its Bonuses page are the same advice it gives for reach in general: make relatable content, invite people to connect in the comments, and put the hook in the first few seconds. There is no separate bonus formula to learn. Content that would earn under a bonus is content that would grow the account anyway, which is the best argument for building it whether an invite arrives or not.
Reels bonus not showing in Professional dashboard
If you have heard you were invited, or you had a bonus before, this is where it lives. Instagram's setup steps, checked October 2026:
- 1Open Professional dashboard
From the top of your profile. Personal accounts do not have it and cannot receive bonuses.
- 2Tap the Settings icon
Top right of the dashboard.
- 3Tap Bonuses
Expected result if invited: an offer with its dates and rules. No Bonuses entry or an empty screen means no active invite.
- 4Read the program rules
Each bonus has its own rules on top of the general rules and the Creator Incentive Terms.
- 5Tap Activate bonus
You are now enrolled for that bonus period.
- 6Add a payout account
It must be set up before the bonus period ends, or you risk not being paid.
Instagram also warns that your eligibility may expire if you do not respond to an invitation by the end of the deal period. If you get a notification or email about a bonus, open the dashboard the same day rather than saving it for later.
Why don't I have Instagram bonuses when other creators do?
Because invitations are selective and not driven by a public threshold, comparison with other creators tells you little. Still, a few account problems will rule you out, and they are worth fixing whatever happens with bonuses:
- Personal account. Bonuses are only offered to business and creator accounts.
- Open policy violations. Check Settings, then Creator tools and controls (or Business tools and controls), then Monetization status. The Monetization status article explains how to view violations and request a review.
- Inauthentic audience. The Partner Monetization Policies say creators may lose monetization if their audience significantly consists of fake engagement. Bought followers and engagement pods work against you here.
- Unoriginal or low-effort formats. The Content Monetization Policies list static videos, slideshows of images, looping videos, text montages, engagement bait and unoriginal content among the things that cannot be monetized.
- Location. You must live in a country where bonuses are being tested. Changing your followers' locations does not change yours.
If you are invited: what Instagram pays for and what it does not
Activation is not the end of the rules. The general bonus rules say Instagram only pays for content that meets the Community Standards and Content Monetization Policies, is not branded content, remains public, and is posted by an individual profile. Content you permanently delete is not paid, and content posted with a collaborator is not paid. Instagram also reserves the right not to pay for fraudulent or artificially boosted views, or for engagement bait that asks people to like or comment.
- 01Invite
Appears in Professional dashboard, Bonuses
- 02Activate

- 03Post eligible content
Original, public, not branded, not a collab
- 04Bonus period ends
Payout account must already be set up
- 05Payout
Released around the 7th and 21st for earlier two-week periods
Payout timing for bonuses differs from other tools. Instagram releases bonus payouts around the 7th and 21st of each month, covering two-week earning periods from the previous month, while gifts, badges and subscriptions pay around the 21st. The minimum balance is $5 in the United States, and $25 elsewhere ($100 for wire transfers), checked October 2026.
How to spot a fake bonus invite
Because so many creators want the bonus, fake invitations are common in DMs and email. Instagram's own guidance is simple: check the email address on the invitation, and know that authentic invitations will not ask for your username or password. Two further rules from experience: a real bonus never asks you to pay anything to unlock it, and it always appears in your Professional dashboard as well. If it is not in the dashboard, it is not real.
The account-health checklist that keeps you eligible
You cannot make an invite arrive, but you can make sure your account is never the reason it does not. Run this once a month:
- Account is a professional (creator or business) account
- Monetization status shows no open violations
- Recent reels are original, not reposts, slideshows or text montages
- No engagement-bait captions asking for likes or comments
- No bought followers, views or engagement pods
- Payout account details are current
- Notifications from Instagram and Meta emails are not filtered to spam
The same checklist protects your reach and every other monetization tool. An account in good standing with original reels is the one that gets recommended, invited to tests and approved for features as they roll out.
What to do instead of waiting
Treat a bonus as a windfall, not a plan. The income lines below are open now and do not depend on selection:
- Gifts on reels. Open to eligible creators from 500 followers in supported countries. Our page on Instagram gifts eligibility walks through the rules.
- Subscriptions. Monthly income from your most engaged followers once you pass 10,000 followers. See Instagram subscription eligibility.
- Brand deals and your own products. Neither needs an invitation from Instagram, and you set the price yourself.
All of them depend on reels people actually watch. The Instagram Reels tutorial covers hooks, length and formats, and the Trial Reels guide shows how to test ideas on non-followers first. If you want the full system for building reels that grow an account and convert it, Instagram Ignited teaches it start to finish. If your account is restricted, fix that first through our Instagram account help hub.
Instagram reels bonus not available: FAQ
Why is the Instagram reels bonus not available on my account?
Instagram bonuses are invite-only and limited-time. Instagram's Help Center says it is testing bonuses, offers them to selected creators in some countries, and that selection includes an element of randomness. You need a professional account, compliance with the Partner Monetization Policies and residence in a country where bonuses are being tested just to be considered. Meeting those rules does not mean an invite will arrive. Checked October 2026.
Can I apply for Instagram bonuses?
No. There is no application form. Instagram says it will announce when it is ready to offer public eligibility for a bonus program, and until then invitations go to selected creators. If you are invited, the offer appears in Professional dashboard under Bonuses, and you may also get an in-app notification or an email from Meta. Checked October 2026.
Where do I find the Instagram bonus if I was invited?
Open your profile, tap Professional dashboard, tap the Settings icon in the top right, then tap Bonuses. Follow the prompts and tap Activate bonus, which means agreeing to the Instagram Creator Incentive Terms and the program rules. Invitations can expire if you do not respond before the end of the deal period, so check the dashboard when you get a notification.
Has Instagram ended the Reels Play bonus?
Instagram's pages, checked October 2026, describe bonuses as limited-time, invite-only tests while it builds toward a sustainable program, and say individual programs may end, with participants notified. They do not announce a public bonus program anyone can join. Treat any bonus as a temporary invite rather than a feature you can switch on.
Why did my reels not earn during a bonus?
Instagram only pays bonuses on content that meets the Community Standards and Content Monetization Policies, is not branded content, stays public, and is posted from your own profile rather than as a collab. It can also withhold payment for inauthentic engagement or engagement bait. You can check whether your account or a specific post is flagged as ineligible from the bonus screens.
Is a message offering me an Instagram bonus real?
Check before you click. Instagram says genuine bonus invitations appear in your Professional dashboard, and that authentic invitations will not ask for personal information such as your username or password. Verify the sender address on any email, and if a message asks you to log in through a link or pay a fee to unlock a bonus, treat it as a scam.
