Kling 4.0 has no exact release date yet: as of October 1, 2026, Kling says the full model launches in October 2026. Kling 4.0 Flash, a lighter version limited to 720p and 20-second clips, has been in limited early access since September 28, listed on Kling's site as a benefit of the Ultra plan billed yearly ($1,429.99 a year). Checked on October 1, 2026 against Kling's release notes, Kling 4.0 product page and blog, membership and API pricing pages, and Kling's launch post on X. Kling 4.0 is still rolling out, so announced specs can change before launch.

Sources: Kling's 4.0 vs 3.0 comparison, the VIDEO 3.0 guide, the 3.0 credit cost guide and the release history. On 3.0, a 5-second 720p clip without audio costs 30 credits, and native audio at 1080p raises the rate from 8 to 12 credits a second.
Kling's own guidance is that 3.0 "remains useful for shorter generations, prompt-led scenes, Multi-Shot content, native audio, and projects where a 15-second sequence already covers the creative goal." If your clips run 15 seconds or less, the upgrade that matters most is quality and reference control, not length. Our Kling image-to-video tutorial covers 3.0 prompts, settings and credit math.
Kling 4.0 pricing: what is known and what is not
Kling has not published how many credits Kling 4.0 or 4.0 Flash use per second. What its membership page does show is that "Annual Early Access: Kling 4.0 Flash" is listed only on the Ultra plan billed yearly. Prices on October 1, 2026:
| Plan | Monthly billing | Yearly billing | Credits a month | Kling 4.0 listed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $6.99 first month, then $8.80 | $79.20 a year | 660 | No |
| Pro | $25.99 first month, then $32.56 | $293.04 a year | 3,000 | No |
| Premier | $64.99 first month, then $80.96 | $728.64 a year | 8,000 | No |
| Ultra | $127.99 first month, then $159.99 | $1,429.99 a year | 26,000 | Flash early access, yearly only |
- Unknown: the credit cost of Kling 4.0 and 4.0 Flash, which plans get the full model at launch, and whether launch pricing differs from 3.0.
- API: Kling's API pricing page says its packages, from $700 for 5,000 units, "currently don't support Kling 4.0." On the API, Kling 3.0 costs $0.084 a second at 720p without audio.
How to get access to Kling 4.0
- Check your account first. Kling's FAQ says to sign in to Kling Creator Studio to check whether Kling 4.0 Flash is available for your account. If Flash appears in the video model list, you have it.
- Know the published route. Kling's launch post says Flash is live for Ultra Yearly subscribers, and the membership page lists it as an early-access benefit of Ultra billed yearly at $1,429.99. That is a large upfront payment for a 720p, 20-second model with an unpublished credit cost.
- Wait for October for the full model. Kling has not said which plans will get Kling 4.0 at launch, so check the model list and the release notes after the October launch.
- Developers: stay on 3.0 for now. There is no Kling 4.0 API endpoint or price yet.
What to do before the full release
- Keep producing on Kling 3.0. It is fully rolled out, its prices are published, and anything that fits in 15 seconds works today.
- Storyboard 30-second pieces as keyframes. Kling's own example plans five key moments at 0, 6, 12, 20 and 28 seconds. Draft those frames as stills now so you can test them on day one.
- Build reference packs within the 4.0 limits: up to 10 images, 5 videos totaling 30 seconds and 7 subjects. Kling lists three-view references, image grids and storyboards among the image inputs it accepts.
- Keep characters consistent before Kling. Generate stills from a fixed ComfyUI workflow or character LoRA so any video model gets the same face.
- Don't plan delivery around HDR yet. Kling lists 10-bit HDR as coming soon, and your editor and export settings need to handle 10-bit footage.
- Price it per usable second when costs appear. Compare 4.0 against 3.0's 6 to 12 credits a second, counting the takes you keep, not every attempt.
