Quick answer

Of seven platforms read on 13 October 2026, Fanvue is the only subscription platform whose published rules accept a fully AI-generated persona posting adult content. X allows AI-generated adult content behind a content warning, and Reddit does not ban it sitewide. Patreon allows only illustrated or animated AI figures on adult pages. OnlyFans, Instagram and TikTok do not accept it. Every platform bans anything involving minors or a real person's likeness without consent.

Short answer: of the seven platforms read for this page, only Fanvue publishes rules that accept a fully AI-generated persona posting adult content and selling subscriptions to it. X allows AI-generated adult content behind a content warning. Reddit does not ban it sitewide. Patreon allows it only in an illustrated or animated style. OnlyFans, Instagram and TikTok do not accept it.

Read on 13 October 2026, signed out, from each platform's own pages: Fanvue's Community Guidelines and help article How do I know if a creator is AI?; OnlyFans' Can I post AI content on OnlyFans?, creator's guide to content moderation and Acceptable Use Policy; Patreon's Community Guidelines and AI policies for Adult/18+ creators; X's Adult Content policy, authenticity policy and Subscriptions policy; the Reddit Rules and Reddit's help articles on intimate media and impersonation; Meta's Adult Nudity and Sexual Activity standard and Instagram's AI-generated profile label post; and TikTok's Community Guidelines on sensitive and mature themes and integrity and authenticity. Words in double quotes are the platform's own.

This page is about business and policy, written for adults running a business. The subscription platforms here are 18+ services that check the identity of the person behind every creator account. I run a creator management agency, so platform rules are the side of this business I see every day, and the pattern is always the same: accounts are lost to policy, not to content quality. Disclosure: IImagined's resources page links to Fanvue with a referral code that pays a commission.

The policy matrix: seven platforms, quoted

Each row answers three questions for an AI-generated persona: may it post adult content, may it sell subscriptions, and what does the platform say about labelling. The last column is the date the platform puts on the policy, where it gives one.

PlatformFully AI persona posting adult contentSelling subscriptionsAI label rulePolicy and its date
FanvueAllowed. "AI creators are a fully recognised and verified category on Fanvue."Yes. Subscriptions from $3.99 to $100 a month. The account owner passes an identity check."All AI-generated media must include a clear and prominent disclosure", for example a watermark, caption or bio statement.Community Guidelines, updated 12 October 2026
OnlyFansNot accepted. Its creator guide bars "accounts or content that are wholly AI-generated".Only for a verified creator who appears in the content.AI content must be captioned "with a signifier such as #ai, or #AIGenerated".Acceptable Use Policy, last updated September 2025
PatreonAdult/18+ pages: illustrated or animated AI figures only. Hyperrealistic figures must be real, consenting adults.Yes. Adult works must sit behind the subscription paywall. The rule turns on visual style, not on a label.AI policies help article, marked "Updated 1 year ago"
XAllowed behind a content warning. The Adult Content policy "also applies to AI-generated, photographic or animated content".Subscriptions need identity verification, 2,000 active Premium followers and 5,000,000 impressions in 3 months. No AI-generated profile photos "for the purpose of deceiving others".Adult Content policy, dated May 2024
RedditNot banned sitewide when it "depicts fictional people or characters". Each community sets its own rules. No creator subscription product appears in the rules pages read.Rule 6: label sexually explicit content. Rule 5: do not pose as a person who does not exist.Reddit Rules, no date shown; impersonation help article updated October 2026
InstagramNot allowed. Meta removes "AI- or computer-generated images of nudity and sexual activity".Instagram Subscriptions need 10,000 followers and compliance with the Community Standards. The AI-generated profile label. Unlabelled AI-person profiles have their reach limited.Community Standard change log, latest 28 August 2025; label post 31 August 2026
TikTokNot allowed. TikTok says "we generally don't allow adult nudity or sexual activity", digital images included. Not a route to adult subscriptions: facilitating access to sexual imagery is not allowed.Creators must label AI-generated content "that shows realistic-looking scenes or people".Community Guidelines, effective 24 September 2026

Three groups come out of that table. One platform is built for the use case, two tolerate the content without being a place to build a subscription business on it, and four either restrict it to a style or refuse it.

Where a fully AI-generated adult persona stands
Not accepted, or restricted
  • OnlyFans: content must clearly feature the verified creator
  • Patreon: illustrated or animated figures only on Adult/18+ pages
  • Instagram: AI-generated nudity is removed
  • TikTok: adult nudity is not allowed, digital images included
Accepted, with conditions
  • Fanvue: a recognised category, with disclosure and a verified owner
  • X: allowed behind a content warning, never in profile or header images
  • Reddit: no sitewide ban for fictional people; community rules decide

Fanvue: the one platform that names AI creators

Fanvue's help centre says "AI creators are a fully recognised and verified category on Fanvue" and that every AI creator has an AI tag in the profile bio. Section D of its Community Guidelines sets the conditions. Media needs "a clear and prominent disclosure (e.g., watermark, caption, accompanying message or bio statement)". Content must not be "used to impersonate real individuals other than the account owner". And on age: "AI-generated individuals must not resemble minors", with the line that closes the loophole, "Prompt text or disclaimers are not sufficient to overcome visual resemblance to individuals under 18."

Public parts of a profile are held to a general-audience standard: the guidelines say the profile picture, banner and intro video "must be safe for a general audience (SFW)". The full rule set, with the identity check and the dated changes, is in our Fanvue AI content policy guide.

OnlyFans: AI is allowed only around a real, verified creator

OnlyFans opens its answer with the principle: "All content posted on OnlyFans must belong to a verified Creator." AI-generated, altered or enhanced content may be shared only if "it clearly features the verified Creator" and "the user can tell that the content has been generated, altered, or enhanced by AI". Its creator guide then lists what cannot be shared, including content that "features a creator whose identity we cannot verify, including accounts or content that are wholly AI-generated, or features heavily altered images".

So a synthetic persona with no real creator in the image does not meet the rule, while a real creator using AI on their own content does. The Acceptable Use Policy also bans "Any explicit image of another person without their consent including an artificially generated image." The two platforms are set side by side, with fees and payout terms, in Fanvue vs OnlyFans.

Patreon: the line is drawn at photorealism

Patreon sorts pages into Safe for All Audiences and Adult/18+. On safe pages, "AI-generated depictions of people are permitted as long as they do not contain nudity, sexual activity, or related adult/18+ material". On Adult/18+ pages its guidelines permit "AI-generated Adult/18+ figures or characters that are animated or illustrated", and then state: "Adult/18+ works featuring hyperrealistic depictions of people must use the likeness of real, adult humans who have documented their explicit consent".

Patreon also lists what it does not permit on adult pages, and three items matter to anyone selling around AI: access to generators that produce adult imagery, AI-driven adult chatbots that can produce user-generated content, and tutorials on creating hyperrealistic AI-generated adult works. A photorealistic persona is welcome on Patreon as a clothed, general-audience creator. Our Fanvue vs Patreon comparison covers that route.

X and Reddit: the content is tolerated, the business is not built in

X. The Adult Content policy allows "consensually produced and distributed adult nudity or sexual behavior, provided it's properly labeled and not prominently displayed", and says the definition "also applies to AI-generated, photographic or animated content". It cannot appear in "live video, profile pictures, headers, List banners, or Community cover photos". Selling is a separate question. Subscriptions eligibility includes identity verification, 2,000 or more active followers with Premium subscriptions and 5,000,000 organic impressions in three months, and X's Content monetization standards put "Adult or Sexual Content" in the categories that "may face restricted monetization".

Reddit. Rule 3 bans intimate media of someone without consent, "including depictions that may have been AI-generated or faked". The same help article says the rule does not apply to "AI-generated sexual media that depicts fictional people or characters". Rule 6 requires sexually explicit content to be labelled, and Rule 5 says not to mislead: the impersonation policy lists "Posing as an individual or organization that does not exist in order to make others believe they are engaging with a real entity" as a violation. Each community adds its own rules on top and can restrict AI content or promotion. The rules pages read describe no creator subscription product.

Instagram and TikTok: general-audience only

Instagram. Meta's Adult Nudity and Sexual Activity standard says: "we remove real photographs and videos of nudity and sexual activity, AI- or computer-generated images of nudity and sexual activity, and digital imagery, regardless of whether it looks 'photorealistic'". Its solicitation standard goes further for promotion: content that "contains usernames, links to or logos of Adult Subscription Websites" is limited to viewers aged 18 and older. And since 31 August 2026 Instagram has said of its AI-generated profile label: "We will also limit the reach of profiles that feature an AI-generated person and do not add this label." The label itself is covered in our Instagram AI label rules guide.

TikTok. The guidelines effective 24 September 2026 say "we generally don't allow adult nudity or sexual activity", and the not-allowed list includes digital and illustrated images as well as "Facilitating access to sexual services, such as offering or asking for sexual acts, sexual chats or imagery, or pornography". On AI, creators must "label AI-generated or significantly edited content that shows realistic-looking scenes or people", and TikTok does not allow "Accounts focused on AI images of youth in clothing suited for adults, or sexualized poses or facial expressions".

Both platforms can carry a clothed, labelled persona that builds an audience. Neither can carry the adult content or, on TikTok, point to it.

Identity checks: the persona is fictional, the owner is not

Every platform that pays out checks the human who is paid. An AI persona does not change that; it only changes whose face is in the content.

PlatformWhat its page says about age and identity
FanvueA government-issued ID or passport and a matching selfie, "even if you are not using your face in the content". The Creator Terms add a liveness check.
OnlyFansA government photo ID, a standalone selfie and a selfie holding the ID, then "selfie checks" on a rolling 45-day cycle.
PatreonCreators in the Adult/18+ category "must complete a brief verification process to attest that they are at least 18 years old".
XSubscriptions eligibility lists "You are 18 years of age or older" and "You have completed identity verification".
InstagramSubscriptions eligibility lists "Be 18 years or older". The help page read names no identity document.

What is banned everywhere

Two bans appear in every policy read, in close to the same words, and both are also matters of criminal law in many places. Our plain-language summary of that law is in is AI adult content legal?

  • Minors and youthful appearance. Fanvue bans content that "sexualises minors or depicts minors, or minor-aged characters in intimate contexts (including real or synthetic/AI-generated content)". OnlyFans bars content that "features a creator who is pretending to be under 18, even though this is role-play or fiction". Patreon has "zero tolerance" for such material "regardless of how the works were created". An AI character has no birth certificate, so what the image looks like is what counts.
  • Real people without consent. X bans "AI-generated, deepfake, or digitally manipulated media that sexualizes, modifies or exposes a specific individual". Reddit bans intimate media of a person without consent, AI-generated included. Fanvue requires "the documented consent and identity verification of the original individual depicted". Our guide to AI likeness rights covers consent and releases.

How to check a platform that is not on this list

Policies move. Fanvue changed its Community Guidelines on 12 October 2026, the day before this page was written. The method below works on any platform and takes about twenty minutes.

Reading a platform policy for an AI persona
  1. 1
Find the content policy and the help centre

Community guidelines or acceptable use policy for the rules, the help centre for the plain answers. Read both.

  2. 2
Search each for AI, generated and synthetic

You are looking for one sentence that says whether a creator may be wholly AI-generated.

  3. 3
Check who must appear in the content

A rule that content must feature the verified creator rules out a synthetic persona, even if AI is allowed.

  4. 4
    Read the adult content section

Is it allowed at all, where must it sit, and does the rule treat photorealistic and illustrated work differently?

  5. 5
    Read the labelling rule

Where the AI disclosure goes: bio, caption, watermark or a platform label.

  6. 6
    Read the verification page

Which documents the account owner submits, and how often checks repeat.

  7. 7
    Write down the date

The policy date on the page and the day you read it. Re-read monthly.

If a platform publishes no AI rule at all, treat that as an open question, not as permission. An account built on an unwritten rule can be removed the day the rule is written.

Before you open an account anywhere
  • The policy says in writing that a fully AI-generated creator is accepted
  • The persona is a fictional adult and reads as an adult in every image
  • No real person's face, body, name or voice was used to make it
  • The AI disclosure is in the bio and on the media, as the platform asks
  • The account owner is ready to pass an identity check in their own name
  • Profile picture, banner and anything public meet the general-audience standard
  • You have saved the policy pages and the date you read them

Where the subscription sits among the other ways a persona earns is covered in our AI influencer monetization overview, and the realistic second choices are compared in Fanvue alternatives for AI creators. The AI Influencers program goes further than a policy page can: its monetization module covers platform setup once you know which platform's rules fit.

AI adult content platform rules: FAQ

Which platforms allow AI-generated adult content?

Of the seven read for this page, Fanvue accepts a fully AI-generated persona posting adult content, with a disclosure on the media and a verified human behind the account. X allows adult content, AI-generated included, behind a content warning. Reddit's sitewide rules do not ban AI-generated adult media of fictional people, but each community sets its own rules. Patreon allows it only in an illustrated or animated style. OnlyFans, Instagram and TikTok do not accept it.

Can an AI persona have an OnlyFans account?

Not a fully synthetic one. OnlyFans says AI content may be shared only if "it clearly features the verified Creator", and its creator guide lists "accounts or content that are wholly AI-generated" among content that cannot be shared. A real, verified creator who uses AI to alter or enhance their own content can post it when it is labelled, for example with the hashtag #ai.

Does Patreon allow AI adult content?

Only in an illustrated or animated style. On pages categorised Adult/18+, Patreon permits AI-generated figures that are animated or illustrated, and says hyperrealistic depictions of people "must use the likeness of real, adult humans who have documented their explicit consent". A photorealistic fictional persona therefore fits a Safe for All Audiences page with no nudity, not an Adult/18+ page.

Can I post AI adult content on Instagram or TikTok?

No. Meta says it removes "AI- or computer-generated images of nudity and sexual activity" whether or not they look photorealistic, and TikTok says it generally does not allow adult nudity or sexual activity, digital or illustrated images included. Both can host a clothed, general-audience persona that carries the AI label each platform asks for.

Do I need to verify my identity to run an AI persona?

On every subscription platform read here, yes. Fanvue asks the account owner for a government-issued ID or passport and a selfie "even if you are not using your face in the content". OnlyFans runs selfie checks on a rolling 45-day cycle. X requires completed identity verification before a creator can offer Subscriptions. The persona is fictional; the person who is paid is not anonymous to the platform.

Do I have to label an AI persona as AI?

Yes, wherever you post. Fanvue requires "a clear and prominent disclosure" on all AI-generated media. TikTok requires a label on AI-generated content that shows realistic-looking people. Instagram limits the reach of profiles that feature an AI-generated person without its AI-generated profile label. Reddit and X ban personas built to make people believe they are dealing with a real person.

Is anything banned on every platform?

Yes. Every policy read for this page bans sexual content involving minors, and the AI rules extend that to appearance: Fanvue says AI-generated individuals must not resemble minors, and TikTok bans accounts focused on AI images of youth in sexualised poses. Such content is also illegal. Every platform also bans sexual or intimate depictions of a real person made without that person's consent.
