Instagram Caption Generator

Describe your post and get five captions that say what it is in the first line, end on one real ask and keep to five specific hashtags. A free AI model writes them from only what you type.

Your post

The format and what it shows or teaches. The more specific, the better the captions.

Optional

Words people would search for. They go into the caption, not only the hashtags.

Free, up to 12 runs a day. Can take up to 20 seconds.

Your captions

Five captions show up here, each with why it works. Read them before you post: the generator keeps to what you typed, but only you know if it is true.

Turn good posts into a plan

Instagram Ignited, included in All Access, covers what to post, how to write it and how to grow from it. Start with the free Starter Kit: working files from the programs that open in your browser.

All Access members also get the AI copy rewriter, which rewrites hooks, bios, captions and offers to match a sample of your writing. Also free: the hashtag checker and the Instagram captions guide.

What the generator does, and what it doesn't

It writes from what you typed. Your details go to a free AI model through OpenRouter with a set of rules: use only your facts; never invent results, numbers, follower counts or testimonials; make no income claims; disclose an AI character as AI. Then the site checks every caption: it removes generic and like-for-like hashtags, keeps at most five, and drops any caption that runs over Instagram's limit, uses a number you didn't type, or lacks a disclosure it needs. A model can still get a fact wrong or sound flat, so read each caption and check it before you post. IImagined does not store what you type, but free model providers may keep prompts, so leave out anything private.

The structure it follows. The first line says what the post is and who it is for, in the words someone would search, because Feed shows only a line or two before "more" and that line decides whether anyone taps. Then a sentence or two on what the reader gets, then the detail, then one call to action or a real question that invites comments (never "tag 3 friends"), and up to five specific hashtags on the last line. The five options vary the opening angle and the length.

The limits, checked October 2026. Meta's publishing API reference caps a caption at 2,200 characters. Instagram's Help Center allows up to 5 hashtags on a post, a cap it began rolling out on December 18, 2025 (Social Media Today). Instagram also warned that tags like #reels or #explore "don't actually help your content appear in places like Explore" (BetaNews, December 19, 2025), and Meta's spam policy bans like-for-like swaps, so the generator removes both kinds.

Questions

Is the Instagram caption generator free?

Yes. There is no account or email. Each run writes five captions, and you can run it up to 12 times a day.

Does it make things up?

It is told to use only the facts you type and to leave out results, testimonials and income claims you did not give, and the site drops any caption with a number you did not type. AI models still slip, for example by naming details you never mentioned, so read every caption and check each fact before you post.

How long can an Instagram caption be?

Up to 2,200 characters, per Meta's publishing API reference. Feed shows only the first line or two before "more", so the generator puts what the post is and who it is for in the first line.

How many hashtags does it add?

Five at most. Instagram began limiting posts and reels to 5 hashtags on December 18, 2025, and a post with more will not go through. The generator also removes generic tags such as #reels, #explore and #fyp, and like-for-like tags such as #like4like.

Can it write captions for an AI influencer?

Yes. Say in the description that it is an AI influencer or AI character, and every caption carries a plain AI disclosure. The generator drops any caption that leaves it out.

Is what I type stored?

IImagined does not save or log it. To write the captions it is sent to a free AI model through OpenRouter, and free model providers may keep prompts, so leave out anything private.
