How TikTok earnings are worked out

Qualified = views per video x share
Rewards     = videos x qualified / 1,000 x RPM
              (1 min+ videos with 1,000+
               qualified views, once eligible)
Per month = rewards + LIVE + brand deals
Per year = per month x 12
Views for goal = gap / (share x RPM / 1,000)

The rules come from TikTok. Its US Creator Rewards Program Terms (last updated July 20, 2026, checked October 2026) require you to be 18 or older, with at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, on a personal account, and count only videos at least 1 minute long. The EEA terms (April 2025) define a qualified view as one watched for five seconds or more, count each viewer account once, and pay a video only once it reaches 1,000 qualified views. Both sets of terms let TikTok cap rewards and decide the calculation from its own data.

TikTok's launch post (March 18, 2024) says rewards weigh originality, play duration, search value and audience engagement. It publishes no average RPM and no typical share of qualified views, so both are your inputs here and the defaults are placeholders that show the arithmetic. The views check uses this month's views as a stand-in for the last 30 days.

Not included: income tax, agency or manager cuts, TikTok Shop commissions and subscriptions. This is an estimate, not a forecast of what TikTok will pay.

Questions

How much does TikTok pay per 1,000 views?

In the Creator Rewards Program you earn an RPM, a reward per 1,000 qualified views, not per raw view. TikTok publishes no fixed or average RPM: its launch post says rewards weigh originality, play duration, search value and audience engagement, so the rate differs by video and creator. Put your own RPM from the program into the calculator.

How much money is 1 million views on TikTok?

Only qualified views on videos of at least 1 minute count. If 500,000 of the million qualify and your RPM is an example $0.50, that is $250. Both numbers are made up for the arithmetic. Videos under a minute earn nothing from Creator Rewards, however many views they get.

How many followers do you need to make money on TikTok?

To join the Creator Rewards Program you need at least 10,000 followers, 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, a personal account and to be 18 or older, in a country where the program runs. LIVE gifts and brand deals follow their own rules, which TikTok sets separately.

What counts as a qualified view on TikTok?

TikTok's Creator Rewards terms count a view watched for at least five seconds, once per viewer account, and leave out views marked not interested, your own views and views TikTok judges artificial. A video starts earning once it reaches 1,000 qualified views.

Do TikTok videos under 1 minute make money?

Not from Creator Rewards: an eligible video must be at least one minute long. Shorter videos can still help with LIVE, brand deals and growing the account, but the calculator counts no rewards for them.

Is there a limit to what TikTok pays?

TikTok's US program terms say it may cap each creator's rewards per month or per year, and that it decides eligibility and the calculation from its own data. Treat any estimate, including this one, as a range rather than a promise.
