To sell wedding invitation templates, design an original suite, choose how buyers will edit it (a Canva template link, Templett or Corjl), and list it on Etsy or your own store. The editor choice shapes your fees, how much control you keep over the design and whether delivery is automatic, so decide it before you build a catalogue.
To sell wedding invitation templates, design an original invitation suite, pick the editing platform buyers will use to personalise it (Canva template links, Templett or Corjl), and list it on Etsy or your own store with clear previews and printing instructions. The editing platform is the decision that shapes the business: it sets your per-sale fees, whether delivery is automatic, and how much of your design a buyer can change.
Fees and rules checked October 2026 against Canva's guide to selling products made in Canva, Templett's fees article and Etsy connection guide, Corjl's seller plans, and Etsy's fees policy, payment processing fees and digital listings help.
Wedding invitations sit at the top end of printable pricing because the buyer is not buying a page; they are buying the look of their wedding stationery. That also makes them demanding: couples want their names, dates, wording and sometimes their language on every piece, and they want it to print properly. If you are new to printables in general, read our printables business guide first, then use this one for the wedding-specific decisions.

The editing-platform choice that defines the business
An editable wedding template only works if the buyer can type their own details into it. There are three common ways to give them that, and each has a different cost and control profile.
| Editor | Per-sale fee | Subscription | Control and delivery | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Canva template link | None from Canva | Free to start | Buyer can change everything after copying; you cannot lock fields | Starting out, design-led styles |
| Templett | From $0.29 per sale, depending on plan | Plans from $9/month | Lockable fields, Etsy connection for automatic delivery | Sellers who want automation on Etsy |
| Corjl | $0.65, $0.45 or $0.30 per listing sold, by plan | $12.99, $19.99 or $49.99/month (monthly billing); lower billed yearly | You control what buyers can change; buyers never pay to edit | Sellers who want control and print ordering |
Canva template links. Canva's selling guide uses a wedding invitation as its own example of a template, and says templates that include Pro content can only be sold as Canva template links, while templates made from free content and your own photos can be sold as PDFs or links (checked October 2026). There is no per-sale fee from Canva. The trade-off is control: once the buyer copies the template, every element is editable, and the link itself can be shared.
Templett. Its fees article says subscription plans start at $9 a month, each plan carries a per-sale transaction fee, and plans go as low as $0.29 per sale (checked October 2026). A transaction includes an Etsy listing sold. Its Etsy connection guide explains that once connected, an Etsy order with your template IDs in the listing description automatically creates the buyer an account and sends them a link to their template.
Corjl. Its plans page lists a design-only plan, then selling plans at $12.99, $19.99 and $49.99 a month on monthly billing with $0.65, $0.45 and $0.30 charged per listing sold, and lower monthly equivalents when billed yearly (checked October 2026). Corjl says you control exactly what buyers can change and that buyers never pay to edit or download full-resolution files.

- Your volume justifies a monthly plan
- You sell many matching suite pieces
Fees on an $18 invite sale, compared
To see what each route leaves you, take $18 as an illustrative price, not a recommendation, for a US Etsy seller. Etsy's fees policy charges a 6.5% transaction fee and renews a multi-quantity listing at $0.20 after each sale; its processing fees page lists 3% plus $0.25 for US sellers (checked October 2026). Processing is charged on the total including tax, so real figures shift slightly.
| Illustrative $18 sale | Canva link | Templett (lowest fee) | Corjl (entry selling plan) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Etsy transaction fee (6.5%) | $1.17 | $1.17 | $1.17 |
| Etsy processing, US (3% + $0.25) | $0.79 | $0.79 | $0.79 |
| Etsy listing renewal | $0.20 | $0.20 | $0.20 |
| Editor fee per sale | $0.00 (Canva link) | $0.29 (lowest Templett plan fee) | $0.65 (Corjl entry selling plan) |
| Total per sale | $2.16 | $2.45 | $2.81 |
| Left from $18 | $15.84 | $15.55 | $15.19 |
The per-sale gap between editors is small. The bigger difference is the monthly plan, which you pay whether or not you sell, and the time you save on delivery. Our free platform break-even calculator lets you compare Etsy with your own storefront at your price and volume.
What a wedding invite template business sells
A single invitation is a hard product to stand out with. A suite is what buyers come back for, because they want every piece to match:
- Before the wedding: save the date, invitation, RSVP card, details or accommodation card, and sometimes a wedding website graphic.
- On the day: welcome sign, seating chart, table numbers, place cards, menu, programme and bar sign.
- After: thank-you cards in the same style.
List the key pieces individually so they can be found, then offer a suite bundle. Etsy does not allow variations on digital listings, per its digital listings help (checked October 2026), so a suite is a separate listing rather than an option on the invitation.
- Original design; only licensed fonts and graphics
- Delivery matches licence: Canva link if Pro content is used
- Editable fields: names, date, venue, wording, RSVP details
- US Letter, A4 and the card sizes you promise, with bleed
- A demo link so buyers can try editing before buying
- Printing guide: paper, home printer settings, print shops
- Shop policy on edits, refunds and turnaround for questions
Listing editable wedding templates on Etsy
Wedding buyers read listings carefully. Put the three things they need in the first lines: what they can edit, which editor it uses (and that they do not need to install software), and what sizes and pieces are included. A demo link, where buyers can try editing before they buy, answers the biggest objection before it becomes a message.
Previews do the selling. Show the invitation on a styled flat lay, then a close-up of the typography, then the full suite together. Our guide to creating mockups in Canva for Etsy covers flat-lay previews, and a short screen recording of the editor in use works well as a listing video; see listing videos for digital products. Set expectations in your shop policies for digital downloads, especially on refunds once a template has been accessed.
Setting up Templett with Etsy for wedding orders
- 1Publish at least one Etsy listing
Templett says your shop must be active with a listing before you connect.
- 2Connect your Etsy shop
In Templett integrations, Connect Etsy Shop, then Allow Access on Etsy.
- 3Add template IDs to the listing description
Orders without template IDs are ignored, so other products in your shop are unaffected.
- 4Place a test order
Expected result: the buyer gets an account and an email link to edit the template.
- 5Write the buyer guide
Editing, saving, downloading and printing, with screenshots.
Planning around the wedding season
Wedding stationery is bought ahead of the date, in order: save the dates first, invitations next, day-of pieces last. Your listings and promotions need to run ahead of the wedding calendar, not alongside it. Rather than relying on anyone's claimed peak months, check your core searches in Etsy's Marketplace Insights, which shows searches and listings for a keyword over the last 30 days, with 15 free searches a week (checked October 2026). Log "wedding invitation template", "save the date template" and "wedding welcome sign" monthly, and launch new suites before the curve rises.
- Month 1Pick the niche and editor
One style, one editor, one demo link.
- Months 2 to 3Build the first suite
Save the date to thank-you card, all matching.
- Month 4List pieces and the bundle
Individual listings for search, a suite for value.
- Months 5 to 12Add one suite a month
Follow your Marketplace Insights log, not guesses.
For a full business plan around printables, from niche choice to pricing and email, our Digital Products program walks through each step.
Pricing the pieces and the suite
Price against what buyers compare you with, not against the hours a design took. Search your exact style on Etsy and note what similar single invitations and full suites cost, then decide where you sit: entry, middle or premium. Premium only works when the listing earns it, with a demo link, a full suite, clear printing help and fast replies.
- Singles for discovery. The invitation, save the date and welcome sign are what couples search for by name, so list them on their own.
- A suite for value. Price the bundle below the sum of its parts so it is the obvious choice once a couple likes the style.
- Add-ons later. Matching bridal shower, rehearsal dinner or thank-you pieces give past buyers a reason to return.
Remember that every Etsy sale carries the same fees regardless of how long the design took, so very cheap singles keep a smaller share of the price. Check the effect of your own prices before you commit, and read our Payhip vs Etsy comparison if you plan to sell suites from your own store as well.
Mistakes that cost wedding sellers
- Unlicensed fonts. Script fonts are the heart of wedding design, and many free ones are personal use only. Check commercial and embedding rights.
- No bleed or trim marks. Home printers and print shops handle edges differently; give buyers files that survive both.
- Selling Pro content as PDFs. Canva only allows Pro content in templates sold as links.
- Slow support. Couples work to deadlines. Reply quickly and keep a library of answers.
Selling wedding invitation templates: FAQ
Can I sell Canva wedding invitation templates on Etsy?
Yes. Canva's own help center uses a wedding invitation as its example of a template you can sell. If the design includes Canva Pro content, you must sell it as a Canva template link; if it uses only free content and your own photos or artwork, you can sell it as a PDF or as a link. The design must be original, and Etsy requires digital items to be designed by you. Checked October 2026.
What is the difference between Templett and Corjl?
Both are browser editors built for selling editable templates: the buyer edits in the editor you choose and downloads print-ready files, and you pay a monthly plan plus a fee per sale. Templett says its plans start at $9 a month with per-sale fees as low as $0.29 and it can connect to Etsy to deliver orders automatically. Corjl lists selling plans from $12.99 a month plus $0.65 per listing sold on monthly billing. Checked October 2026.
How much does Etsy take from an $18 wedding invitation sale?
Using an $18 price as an illustrative input for a US seller: a 6.5% transaction fee is $1.17, payment processing at 3% plus $0.25 is $0.79, and the $0.20 listing renewal applies, so about $2.16 before any sales tax effects. Add your editor's per-sale fee, for example $0.29 to $0.65 on Templett or Corjl, or nothing extra for a Canva link. Fees checked October 2026.
Do I need Templett or Corjl, or is Canva enough?
Canva links cost nothing per sale and many buyers already know Canva, but once a buyer copies the template they can change anything, and you cannot lock text or layout. Templett and Corjl cost a monthly plan and a per-sale fee, but let you choose which fields buyers can edit and keep your design files in their editor. Pick Canva to start cheaply; move to a dedicated editor when control and automation matter more.
What should a wedding invitation template bundle include?
Couples rarely want only the invitation. A suite usually includes a save the date, the invitation, an RSVP card, a details or information card, and day-of pieces such as a welcome sign, programme, menu and place cards. Sell the pieces individually for discovery and as a discounted suite. Include US Letter and A4 or local paper sizes, trim marks for printing, and a short guide to editing and printing.
When do people buy wedding invitation templates?
Well before the wedding: save the dates go out first, invitations follow, and day-of signage comes last. That means your sales calendar runs ahead of the wedding calendar. Rather than trusting general claims about peak months, check your core keywords in Etsy's Marketplace Insights, which shows searches over the last 30 days, and log them monthly to build your own seasonal pattern.
