This calculator uses a per-follower formula for a single post. Each included action counts equally; this is not an Instagram ranking formula.
(Likes + Comments + Saves + Shares) ÷ Followers × 100 = Engagement Rate %
A post with 320 likes, 18 comments, 47 saves, and 9 shares has 394 interactions. With 12,500 followers, the rate is 394 / 12,500 x 100 = 3.152%, displayed as 3.15%.
There is no universal good rate for every niche, account size, format, or measurement window. Compare similar posts from your own account at the same age. A low value alone does not establish an algorithm penalty or explain why reach changed.
Per-reach and per-view formulas answer different questions. This tool does not calculate them, fetch account analytics, or estimate missing saves and shares. Include the same metrics in every comparison. Multiple actions and non-follower interactions mean this rate is not the percentage of unique followers who engaged.
