Fansly hosts adult content, so this page is for adults and stays on business, policy and mechanics. I run a creator management agency, so subscription platforms are my daily work, but every fact below comes from the pages linked above and not from that work.

What is Fansly, and who runs it?
Fansly's Terms of Service open with the answer: "Select Media LLC, a Maryland limited liability company" owns and operates the site, which it describes as "a social media website and application service that allows creators to upload photos and videos to their profile" and "set prices for access to that content". It is a subscription platform, and payouts typically appear on a creator's bank statement under SELECT MEDIA LLC.
- Sign up with an email, or with an X, Google or Twitch account
- Follow a creator for free, or subscribe to a paid tier
- Pay by card, or preload a wallet with up to $500 per top-up
- Buy locked media and send tips as one-off purchases
- Turn off auto-renew to cancel. Access runs to the end of the period
- Pass an age check where your country or state requires one
- Apply, and pass an identity check by a third party and by Fansly
- Set one or more subscription tiers from $5.00 to $499.99 a month
- Sell locked media from $1 to $499.99 and take tips
- Earn 80% of subscriptions, sales and tips
- Wait 7 days for a sale to clear, then request a payout
- Opt posts in to the For You Page to reach new fans
One design choice is specific to Fansly. A creator does not need separate free and paid pages. The help centre says: "Whether you run a full pay-per-view page or offer free updates with locked posts, it's all managed from one profile." Followers see what the creator opens to them, and subscribers on each tier see more.
Does Fansly allow adult content?
Yes. The first provision of its terms is headed "No Minors" and says: "Fansly contains adult oriented content and is not intended for minors." To access it you must be at least 18 and have reached the age of majority where you live. That makes Fansly an 18+ platform in the same group as Fanvue, OnlyFans and JustForFans, and unlike Fanfix, which is 18+ but safe-for-work.
Allowed is not the same as unrestricted. The terms carry a long list of prohibited content, require written consent and age documents for every person shown, and say that content "is subject to pre-screening and moderation by the Company prior to publication". This article does not go through the list. A creator should read it in full before posting, and can start with our overview of whether AI adult content is legal.
Fansly fees: what creators pay and keep
Applying is free. The terms state the split in one sentence: "Creators earn eighty percent (80%) of the revenue generated on all subscriptions, sales, or tips related to their content and User profile." The help centre adds: "No hidden fees for payouts, processing, or currency conversion."
- Creator share (80%)$8.00
- Fansly fee (20%)$2.00

What a creator can charge is published. A subscription tier can cost "anywhere from $5.00 to $499.99 per month", with optional discounts for 3 or 6 months paid up front. A single piece of locked media, which is Fansly's pay-per-view, has a minimum of $1.00 and a maximum of $499.99.
Three deductions can reduce the 80%:
- Chargebacks and rule breaches. The terms let Fansly deduct money earned on a sale that was charged back, or on content that violates the terms. The help centre says creators are protected from most chargebacks, unless an account gets an unusually high number.
- Refunds Fansly grants. A fan may be refunded if custom content is not delivered within 2 weeks, if what was sold was unclear, or if a creator blocks a subscriber mid-term. The refund comes out of the creator's earnings.
- Tax. Fansly does not withhold tax. It asks for tax forms, and a creator cannot withdraw until they are submitted.
How Fansly payouts work
Fansly does not pay on a fixed schedule. A creator requests each payout from the Earnings Wallet once money has cleared.
- Day 0A fan pays
The sale shows in your pending balance.
- Day 7The sale becomes available
Each transaction unlocks exactly seven days after it was earned.
- Within 48 hoursYour request is reviewed
Most payout requests are approved within 48 hours, often sooner.
- 1 to 3 business daysThe money is delivered
Some e-wallet methods usually arrive within 24 hours.
Source: Fansly help centre, payout processing times, dated July 10, 2026, read 13 October 2026
| Payout method | Minimum request | Timing note |
|---|---|---|
| Paxum or Cosmopayment | $20 | Usually within 24 hours of processing |
| Local bank deposit, including USD ACH and CAD | $20 | 1 to 3 business days |
| SEPA transfer (EU and UK bank deposit) | $50 | Smaller requests are held until they total $50, or 14 days pass |
| International bank wire (SWIFT) | $100 | Sent in batches every three days |
Methods vary by region. The payout account has to be in the name on the creator application: "Due to compliance regulations, payouts can only be sent to accounts that match the name on your creator application." Earnings are shown and paid in US dollars, and a bank may charge its own fee to receive an international transfer. An account that is not logged into for 12 months is charged $5 a month from its remaining balance until it is logged into again or the balance is zero.
Identity and age checks
Creators are checked twice. The help centre describes two stages. First, a third party, Ondato, verifies identity and age from a government-issued photo ID. Second, Fansly asks for a photo of the front and back of the ID, a photo of the applicant holding the ID with a handwritten sign showing their legal name, the date and the phrase "For Fansly", and a short video of the same. The terms add that a creator agrees Fansly or its contractors may collect and store biometric information from those documents.
Anyone else who appears in a creator's content has to be verified as a co-performer, with identity and signed consent. An agency or studio applies under the legal details of the one person who owns the account and receives the payouts.
Fans are checked by location. On 13 October 2026 the help centre listed the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil and Germany, and twelve U.S. states, as places where a fan must verify their age. The check is a live selfie run by Ondato, with an ID upload if more assurance is needed. Fansly says it "only receives confirmation that you're age-verified and nothing more".
Fansly AI rules: are AI creators allowed?
Not the photorealistic kind. This is the rule that matters most to anyone planning an AI persona, and Fansly states it twice. The Terms of Service prohibit posting "photorealistic or lifelike content that is substantially generated or created through artificial intelligence, including deepfakes, face-swapped content, or synthetic media designed to appear as real humans". The help centre article dated July 9, 2026 closes the obvious loophole: "labeling content as AI-generated does not make photorealistic or lifelike AI content permissible."
- A photorealistic or lifelike AI-generated persona
- Deepfakes and face-swapped content
- AI that talks to fans and generates replies or images without human oversight
- Passing AI-generated material off as a real human performance
- Impersonating any person, real or fictional, without explicit consent
- Applying as a non-photorealistic virtual entity
- Operating under a virtual persona once approved
- Registering and verifying with your real legal identity
- Automated messages you write yourself, sent on a trigger
- Verified co-performers, including voice-only ones
So a stylised or illustrated character can have an account, run by a verified adult. A realistic AI-generated person cannot. On this point Fansly is stricter than Fanvue, which accepts AI creators with a tag, and close to OnlyFans, which accepts AI only where it features the verified creator. The three rulebooks are side by side in which platforms allow AI adult content and can you use AI on OnlyFans.
What Fansly costs fans, and how to cancel
Opening an account and following a creator are free. A subscription is the creator's price for the tier, billed monthly unless a longer plan is chosen, and it renews until cancelled. Locked media and tips are extra. Prices are in US dollars, and tax is added where Fansly is required to collect it. A trial renews at the full price unless it is cancelled before it ends.
To cancel, open the Subscriptions page, click the cogwheel next to the creator and choose not to renew. Access continues until the end of the billing period, and the entry then shows an expiry date. Fansly's standard policy is that purchases are final and non-refundable. It reviews refund requests case by case, and a billing error has to be reported in writing within 30 days. The terms say a purchase that results in a chargeback can get an account suspended. Media cannot be downloaded, and what you buy stays in your Media Collection on the site.

Who Fansly suits, and who it does not
- Your persona is a photorealistic AI-generated person
- You want replies to fans generated by AI without a human
- You want payouts sent automatically on a schedule
- You will not hold your ID on camera to be verified
- You expect the platform to supply your first customers
- You are a human creator, or run a non-photorealistic virtual character
- You want free followers and paid tiers on one profile
- You want to price a subscription above $100 a month
- You want an opt-in feed that shows posts to new fans
- You are 18 or over and will pass two identity checks
Whether an audience will pay is the question no policy answers. It depends on the creator and on what sits behind the paywall, and both are built before the application.
Fansly: FAQ
What is Fansly?
Fansly is a subscription platform where fans pay creators for content through monthly subscription tiers, locked media and tips. Its terms say it "contains adult oriented content", so everyone on it must be at least 18. It is owned and operated by Select Media LLC, a Maryland limited liability company, and creators earn 80% of what fans pay.
Is Fansly like OnlyFans?
Yes, in structure. Both are 18+ subscription platforms that host adult content, both pay creators 80%, and both hold a sale for 7 days, in most cases, before it can be withdrawn. Fansly differs in a few mechanics: free following and paid subscription tiers sit on one profile, subscriptions can be priced up to $499.99 a month, and an opt-in For You Page recommends posts to new fans.
Is Fansly safe?
Fansly says it does not store payment information, that card details stay with its payment processors, and that personal data is encrypted. Two-factor authentication is available, and age checks are run by a third party, Ondato, which Fansly says does not store your selfie or ID. Those are Fansly's statements. No independent security audit is published on the pages read, and we have not tested its payouts.
How much does Fansly take?
Fansly keeps 20%. Its Terms of Service say creators "earn eighty percent (80%) of the revenue generated on all subscriptions, sales, or tips". Its help centre adds that there are no hidden fees for payouts, processing or currency conversion, though a creator's own bank may charge to receive an international transfer.
How does Fansly pay creators?
A sale is pending for 7 days, then moves to the available balance. The creator requests a payout, which Fansly says is usually approved within 48 hours and delivered within 1 to 3 business days after that. Minimums depend on the method: $20 for Paxum, Cosmopayment and local bank deposits, $50 for a SEPA transfer and $100 for an international bank wire.
Does Fansly allow AI-generated content?
Not photorealistic AI content. Fansly's help centre, in an article dated July 9, 2026, says "Photorealistic AI-generated content is not allowed on Fansly" and that labelling it as AI does not make it permissible. A non-photorealistic virtual persona can apply, but the person behind it registers and verifies with their real legal identity.
How do I cancel a Fansly subscription?
Open your Subscriptions page, find the creator, click the cogwheel icon and choose not to renew. You keep access until the end of the current billing period, and the entry then shows an expiry date. Fansly's standard policy is that purchases are final and non-refundable.
